History

Learn more about Bluegrass Ingredients, from its origins as a dairy farm deep in the rolling hill of Kentucky to its current role as a national ingredients supplier.

History

1995

Billy Joe Williams and his wife, Debbie, purchase a dairy factory in Glasgow, KY. Located in the heart of Bluegrass country, they name the new company Bluegrass Dairy. With the right investors, including some long standing employees, the company begins experimenting and innovating with new powder formulations through its spray drying processes.

 

1999

Bluegrass purchases a second factory in Springfield, KY. With this new location, Bluegrass significantly expands its capabilities and products to include high-end powders and more diverse ingredients.

 

2010

Bluegrass is acquired by the capital investment firm Dubilier & Company. The company continues to grow and expand into new markets and develop new products.

 

2012

Bluegrass expands product offerings to include fruit, citrus and plant-based powders.

 

2016

Bluegrass develops and begins selling organic dairy powders.

 

2019

Bluegrass responds to growing consumer demands by expanding its offering of plant-based products.

 

2020

Bluegrass Dairy changes name to Bluegrass Ingredients.
